Shelter belt of Salix Viminalis

Shelter belt of Salix Viminalis (Osier).
August of fourth year of growth, pollarded each winter to 2ft stools. Rods to 15ft

The picturesque crofting village of Inveralligin lies on the northern shore of Upper Loch Torridon, in the North-West Highlands of Scotland.
Here our willows flourish despite their exposed location and salt-laden spindrift.
They provide an effective and attractive screen and shelter for livestock and a wide range of wild birds, animals and insects.
Salix Viminalis has many other uses.
